The Most Important Investment

Hello everyone! I hope you and your families are doing well.
Today, I would like to talk about "investing in yourself." The most important investment you can ever make is in yourself, spiritually.
Over the weekend I was able to attend a ladies luncheon. The topic was Investing in the Fullness of You "Making Yourself a Priority". Women especially put themselves on the back burner in order to take care of everyone else around them. We talked about the importance of taking care of yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually. Today, I would like to express how important spiritual investment is.
I believe if we would all realize how valuable we are, we would definitely make it a point to take care of ourselves. It is very common for us to underestimate our worth, but we need to see ourselves the way God sees us. According to Isaiah 43:4 we are precious in His sight. Each of us are very special and precious to Him. God loves us very much, and He cares about us. Psalm 139:13-14 says:
"For thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
God took the time to create every intricate detail about us. He designed our physical bodies, our personalities, and everything about us. When you think about artists; whether they're working with clay, painting, or whatever creation they're making; they make sure they use the right colors, they're cautious with each brush stroke of their paintbrush, and the pay very close attention to every detail. Whenever they are finished, they value that piece of work. It means a lot to them because of all the hardworking and time they put into it. That's the same way it is with God. He paid very close attention to every detail about us. He values us because we are His creation.
Sometimes we may feel like we aren't worth much value because of the way we look, or past mistakes or circumstances of life. But the wonderful thing about God is He loves us just the same no matter what. We never lose value in the eyesight of God.
After we remember that God is our Creator, we must realize that our bodies are meant to be the temple of God's Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 3:16 says:
"Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?"
This is one reason why it is so important that we take care of ourselves. We need to see our bodies as temples for God's Holy Spirit. When we view ourselves this way, we will become more careful about the way we treat our bodies, and the way we allow others to treat us.
When we begin to view ourselves the way God sees us, we will hold ourselves to a higher standard. This isn't saying that we are better than anyone else, but we will carry ourselves with more respect. Our appearance and demeanor will let people know that we respect ourselves, and we expect respect from others as well. One thought that came to my mind was, I know that my value is not cheap so I don't want to look cheap either. We don't want people to get the wrong idea of who we think we are. Right??? Tell yourself, I'm worth too much to look just any kind of way!
We know that we have to take care of ourselves physically, which is one way of investing in ourselves. But the most important way to invest in ourselves in spiritually. The way to do that is by spending time with the Lord every single day. We must find time to read some Bible verses, and spend some quiet time with the Lord every day. Even if it's just 10 or 15 minutes. Believe me, I understand just how difficult it is to find some quiet time. The best time for me to pray and read God's Word is at night after everyone else goes to bed and the house is quiet. That's when I can concentrate and really spend one on one time with the Lord.
Psalm 119:105 says, "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."
When we spend time with God and in His Word, He will help navigate and guide us through each day of our lives. By spending time in His Word, we gain the wisdom and strength that we need to make it through each day. It's by spending time with God that He will show us just how valuable we are, and He helps us understand our purpose in life. God will show us not only how to treat ourselves, but He will also show us how to treat other people.
Spiritual investment, is more important than and better than any other investment we can make. Learning how valuable we are, and Who's we are makes all of the difference. Once we understand those two things, we will want to continue to spiritually invest in ourselves.
So, I encourage you today to learn how valuable you are. Ask God to help you see yourself the way He sees you. Ask God to help you find time everyday to read His Word and pray. When you begin to do this, He will help you with everything else.
God Bless!
