Persistent in Perseverance

Hello everyone! I pray all is well with you and your families. Today I would like to talk about being persistent in perseverance. It is so important to hold on and never give up whenever we are going through different trials and obstacles in our lives.

As I thought about persevering, the first person I thought of was Job. He was an excellent example of someone that was persistent to persevere. Job experienced so many trials and tribulations, but yet he didn’t give up or turn his back on God. Job lost his children, his possessions, his livestock. He lost everything. Then he became afflicted in his body. If we look at everything he went through, surely he of all people had a right to lose hope and give up. However, the Lord blessed him to be able to hold on through it all.

Eventually, God restored Job’s health, and everything he lost. In fact, God blessed him with twice as much as he had before. Imagine if Job would have given up. If he hadn’t been persistent in his perseverance, he wouldn’t have been blessed by God.

Romans 5:3-5 says:

"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. "

Our trials in life, though they are difficult to endure, can help us learn and grow. Instead of giving up and becoming frustrated, we need to be persistent in perseverance. We need to make up in our minds that no matter what we are going through, and no matter how hopeless the situation may seem, we are not going to give up.

James 1:2-4 says:

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

During every trial, and every obstacle of our life, there is an opportunity to grow. There is an opportunity to mature. As we go through and face adversity, the Lord will give us strength to go through. So, we become a stronger person as we go through. However, if we aren’t persistent to persevere, we give up. When we choose despair over hope, we are choosing to fail.

Think about if you were running a race. If there were other runners ahead of you, you could do one of two things.

  1. Give up because you already believe you are defeated, and will never be able to catch the runners ahead of you.

    • Or

  1. Be determined to persevere. Run your best race no matter what it looks like because you know there is still a chance to win as long as you keep running.

Lord, please help us to be persistent to persevere!

Psalm 34:19 says:

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all."

We have the Word of God to remind us that He is going to deliver us from whatever we face in life. As long as we don’t give up, God will bring us through every trial and obstacle.

God never fails, but we certainly can if we choose to give up. We can be so quick to want to throw in the towel, or wave the white flag declaring defeat. We really need to ask the Lord to help us with being persistent to persevere.

James 1:12 says:

"Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him."

Another good scripture is Romans 12:12

Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer

No matter what it looks like, keep going. No matter what others may say, keep pushing through your trial. Be determined to make it through no matter how long it takes. Have a made up mind to persevere.

When you look up the definition of perseverance, it means: continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties or opposition.

To persevere is basically to be steadfast. To be persistent is to be dedicated, determined, resolute, or adamant.

That’s exactly how we have to be with our faith. We have to remember that in life, we will face many obstacles, and adversity. But the key is to be determined to achieve and conquer every obstacle and trial we face.

I encourage you all to be persistent in perseverance. Whatever you may be facing, be determined to keep going and never give up. God will strengthen and keep you. He will carry you all the way through to victory.

God bless!
